Safeguarding Policy

Last updated: 21 May 2026

DermVersity Education Institute is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all learners, clinicians, patients featured in educational materials, and members of the communities we serve.

Our commitment

We are committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment in all of our educational activities, whether delivered online or in person. We take seriously our responsibility to protect children, young people and adults at risk from harm, abuse, exploitation or discrimination.

Scope

This policy applies to all staff, ambassadors, volunteers, speakers, learners and partner organisations involved in DermVersity activities.

Our principles

• We treat all individuals with dignity, respect and equality regardless of skin tone, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, religion or background. • Patient images used in teaching are shared only with appropriate consent and anonymised where required. • We operate a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, harassment, abuse and discrimination. • We expect everyone representing DermVersity to act professionally and to model inclusive, evidence-based practice.

Raising a concern

If you have a safeguarding concern about anything connected to DermVersity, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead at safeguarding@dermversity.org. In an emergency, or where a child or adult is at immediate risk, contact your local emergency services or the relevant statutory authority first.

Reports are handled confidentially and taken seriously. We will acknowledge concerns promptly and take proportionate action.

Review

This policy is reviewed annually and updated as needed.
